Anjaneya (2024) is the fifth and final painting in my Scriptures series. Anjaneya (Sanskrit: आन्जनेय) means “son of Anjani.” It depicts Hanuman, the divine vanara, or monkey, in Hinduism. Hanuman is the faithful companion of Lord Rama and one of the eight chiranjeevis, or immortals. He is shown with his hands folded in prayer to Rama. The verses in the background from the hymn Hanuman Chalisa written by Tulsidas sing the praises of Lord Hanuman.
