Artist's Description
Gajananam (2022) is the first painting in my original Hindu Scripture series. Gajananam (Sanskrit: गजाननं) means “one with an elephant face.” It depicts Ganesha, the elephant-headed Hindu god of beginnings, wisdom, and the remover of obstacles. He is portrayed with eight arms, each holding one of the Hindu symbols, including a trident, a mace, a conch shell, and a bowl of modaks (sweet dumplings) etc. At his feet is his vehicle, the mouse Mooshika. The Sanskrit verses in the background in praise of Lord Ganesha invoke him to bless one’s endeavors and remove all obstacles.
