Artist's Description

Swagatham (2020) is a painting that is a little closer to home. It depicts my colorful South Asian family— my parents and I— in traditional Indian clothing and bright Indian colors in Thota Vaikuntam style. Swagatham (Sanskrit: स्वागतम्) means welcome. I wanted to portray Indian hospitality and warmth through this painting with plates of flowers and laddoos (Hindi: लड्डू, round Indian desserts).

NOTE: The watermark in the lower right does not appear in the final print. Aanya is a 12-year-old amateur artist who currently lives in California. Aanya’s Art4Earth was born from her desire to protect the planet we call home. All proceeds from this store go towards combating climate change.
